Story, Aolda

This project was presented as part of Walking in the Stories, an inaugural exhibition for a new art space supported by the Arts Council Korea's 'Small Museum' initiative. Under the theme of 'Settlement', I materialized the reflections and lessons gathered while gradually synchronizing my own rhythm with the unfamiliar region of Yangpyeong. The work operates on a fictional narrative: an imaginary film crew named Migratory Birds and Chul-soo unearths a mysterious structure and its contents from the center of Tteoderong Island in Yangpyeong. In this participatory installation, visitors are invited to become archaeologists or local experts, analyzing the uncovered artifacts to piece together the story of a person building a home and putting down roots. Rather than relying on grand slogans of urban regeneration, the project quietly explores the existential experience of migration and settlement through the playful framework of a fictional archive.
