Designing the Strange
What should a public sphere look like? On October 18, 2025, in the midst of the Dongdaemun Festival 'Not Art, But a Party', public artist Bee Chee Chang and public campaigner Jelly Jang set up a strange, sensory public sphere, proposing a space co-created by artists and citizens. Sitting across from one another with objects symbolizing the neighborhood's day and night between them, participants engaged with strange neighbors through their senses. Through each other's distinct modes of expression, we re-examined the day and night of the local community, expanding the festival grounds into a vibrant public sphere.
