2018 · Two-Channel Video Installation

Can'titled

This multimedia installation project began with a deeply personal sense of alienation and sorrow felt while navigating urban construction sites that lay bare the harsh realities of gentrification. The installation brings together two modest video works: one capturing the aggressive, swelling landscape of a city that felt as though it were mocking me, and another featuring a quiet performance where I build a soil toad-house in the dark, questioning whether I, as an artist, will ever be able to own a home. Rather than framing this through grand socio-political discourses, I wanted to quietly record the housing instability and existential anxieties an individual faces amidst massive urban shifts, simple contrasting urban spectacles with an intimate, raw monologue.
